Michael Oram writes: I can remember moving in 1951 to this public house, when my late mother, Gladys Irene Oram took it over. She started the Ladies’ darts team for competing in Bedminster and other areas and became very successful. From the inventory shown, it brought back many memories of my early teens. We moved in 1956 when the Mills family took over.
The tenancy of Gladys Oram commenced on the 1st October 1951 the rent was £40 per annum and the landlord was The Bristol Brewery Georges & Co. Limited. The following is a transcription of the schedule of fixtures and effects which was attached to the tenancy agreement.
White porcelain sink with tiled back and chromium plated tap.
2 lengths of beer horsing.
6’ x 2’ 11” leaded coloured glass window screen lettered – Old and Mild.
14’ fixed seat.
4’ 3” fixed seat.
15’ fixed seat with draught screen.
6’ x 3’ 1” leaded and coloured window screen lettered – Georges’ & Co. Ltd.
6’ 1” x 2’ 11” leaded and coloured glazed window screen lettered – Spring Tavern.
9’ seating as fixed with draught screen.
8’ seating as fixed with draught screen.
7’ 9” panelled screen and half glazed top dividing Bar and Bottle & Jug.
Gas heating stove.
2 Briton patent door stops.
15’ 6” mahogany top counter with painted and panelled front and bottle shelving.
Fluted lead and zinc washup with copper bowl tap and outlet pipe.
8’ 6” the back of Bar fitting with canopy top, 3 shelves and 2 plate glass inset mirrors.
Installation of electric light.

Ascot gas water heater and stand as fitted.
