Prior to becoming a pub in the late 1870s this building was home to an eating house and refreshment rooms. Not a very good picture but it shows the pub (left) around 1900 shortly before the street was rebuilt. Bombed in the second world war this is part of the site now occupied by the Galleries shopping centre.
