An advertisement from August 11th 1849

“The Bell Inn, Cathay, Bristol. Mr F. Miles has received instructions to let the above very excellent and old established public house, situate in a densely populated part of the city, with brewery and capital covered-in skittle alley attached, and within 250 yards of the railway terminus. Rent only £24 per annum. coming in moderate: and the premises in excellent repair. This is an opportunity that rarely occurs for getting in to the public line. Satisfactory reasons will be given for the present tenant leaving. For further particulars inquire of the said F. Miles, auctioneer and appraiser, No.14 Thomas Street, Bristol, who has a variety of hotels, inns, taverns, and beer houses to let; Coming in ranging from £70 to £1600”.
